I'm looking for sample SMF2 Clip files to test in the MIDI Workbench and other software. Any idea where I can find them?

Thanks,

Karim

You could find literally thousands of sample midi files via the web, but I suspect that you need specific sorts of 'clip' file which may well not be complete smf. It would be a help if you defined the precise details of the sort of files you need. Even the software you mention could use different types for different purposes?

I am asking about SMF2 files, meaning clip files as per this MIDI 2 spec https://staging.midi.org/midi-clip-file-specification-smf-midi-2-0

Thanks

I have some at https://github.com/jazz-soft/test-midi-files

Not too many but you can follow the examples to create your own test cases.

Hello,

Can someone official from MIDI Association reply to this thread? It's kind of nonsense to create a standard and do not provide samples.

I appreciate all the work you do, but test data is one of ways you can promote your ideas and new standards. MIDI 2.0 was introduces 6 years ago and the truth is it's still not widely adopted, only hi-end vendors provide such devices. The situation with Clip Files (aka SMF2) is even worse. It's wrong to create files by ourselves because only you know exactly all details and only you can provide absolutely correct and different files.

I think it would be right to give us a set of test files. As for MIDI 2.0, it would be right to provide simple hardware chips/modules implementing the standard. But I'm pretty sure you have a deal with big players like Roland, Yamaha or Korg to not provide such devices. Just a business, I guess.
